Recount
( laporan peristiwa, kejadian atau kegiatan atau pengalaman masa lampau).
a.    Tujuan komunikatif: ( social function )

          Melaporkan peristiwa, kejadian atau kegiatan  dengan tujuan memberitakan atau menghibur.
b.    Struktur teks: ( generic structure )
·        Pendahuluan (orientasi),
yaitu memberikan informasi tentang apa, siapa, di mana dan
kapan;
·        Laporan (rentetan) peristiwa ( event ) , kegiatan yang terjadi, yang biasanya disampaikan secara berurut;
·        Komentar pribadi ( re-orientation ) dan/atau ungkapan penilaian (jika ada

Ciri kebahasaan:
1.    nouns dan pronouns sebagai kata ganti orang, hewan atau benda yang terlibat, misalnya David, the monkey, we dsb.
2.    action verbs atau kata kerja tindakan, misalnya go, sleep, run dsb.
3.    past tense, misalnya We went to the zoo; She was happy dsb
4.    conjunctions dan time connectives yang mengurutkan peristiwa, kejadian atau kegiatan, misalnya and, but, then, after that, dsb.
5.    adverbs dan adverb phrases untuk mengungkap tempat, waktu dan cara, misalnya yesterday, at my house, slowly dsb.
6.    adjectives untuk menerangkan nouns, misalnya beautiful, funny, dsb

On Thursday 24 April we went to the Botanical Gardens. We walked down and boarded the bus.
After we arrived at the garden, we walked down to the Education Centre. The third grade students went to have a look around. First, we went to the first farm and Mrs. James read us some information. Then, we looked at all the lovely plants. After that we went down to a little spot in the Botanical Garden and had a morning tea break.
Next, we did sketching and then we met the fourth grade students at the Education Centre to have lunch. Soon after that, it was time for us to go and make our terrariums while the fourth year students went to have walk.
A lady took us into special room and introduced herself, then she explained what we were going to do. Next, she took us to a pyramid terrarium. It was really interesting.
After we had finished, we met the fourth grade students outside the gardens.
Then we boarded the bus and returned to school.
